Belated 30th Birthday Celebrations in November 2020

Members of Adelong Day VIEW club celebrated their 30th birthday at the Adelong Bowling Club on 5th November.  Current restrictions, resulted in a smaller celebration than that originally planned  to take place in May, however members were happy to just be able to meet again.

President Bev welcomed all present as well as National Councillor Gail Tooth from Wagga.  She reminded members that the Christmas meeting will be held at the Courabyra winery on 3rd  December, and numbers are now required.

A huge Christmas hamper raffle  is being organised, and tickets  are available at Rustic Creations; this will be drawn on 11th December.

Thirty year badges were  presented to Marie, Lyn, Ester, Annette, as well as Isobel, who was unable to attend.

Seventeen framed certificates were presented by NC Gail, as a thank you to all members who have served on committee over the years, helping the club in so many ways.

A buffet salad lunch, catered for by Pat, was enjoyed by all,  along with punch and champagne. The birthday cake, made by Pie in the Sky Tumut, was cut by the two ladies who started the club, Annette and Judy.

The first club president Annette then gave a brief history of our very successful club, which began as an evening club and changed to a day Club eleven years ago. She listed the five meeting venues utilised over the years, and many special occasions enjoyed by all.  Gail gave a short talk on VIEW; it’s mission and  its many changes due to modern technology. She and Annette were presented with a posy of garden flowers by Marianne.

The club has had a quiet year, but President Bev had kept members in the loop organising two morning teas, until the normality of lunch meetings at the Royal hotel with guest speakers, returns.  The club now has 22 members with  several new faces starting to show an interest as new people relocate to Adelong.  They are finding that joining VIEW is a great way to make  new friends while supporting the LfL  students.

New members are always welcome to join Adelong VIEW (Voice, Interest , Education of Women) who meet on the first Thursday of each month.  Please contact ,  Annette  on 69462229.
