Merimbula Day's 22nd Birthday
Merimbula Day VIEW Club celebrated its 22nd birthday with a delicious Chinese Buffet at the August meeting, where they were entertained by the girls from Merimbula Public School’s recorder group.
The students, together with others from the Bega Valley, recently travelled to Sydney where they joined other musicians from public schools throughout NSW to perform at the Opera House.
Special guests at the lunch were National Vice President Pat McRae and Zone Councillor Valerie Hobbs who joined President Danielle in cutting the birthday cake beautifully decorated by Cathy Smith.
During the day Pat presented new member Sue Donnelley with her badge.

2018 - A Day at the Races
A most successful Day at the Races was held at Sapphire Turf Club with a very pleasing amount raised towards the sponsorship of the club’s four students involved in The Smith Family’s programs which assist underprivileged Australian children to take advantage of their education and make successful futures for themselves.

7 August Race Day
“Day at the Races”
Merimbula Day VIEW Club’s fund raising “Day at the Races” was a great success and enjoyed by all who attended. The weather was beautiful, a lovely meal was provided by Tathra Lions Club and the staff at Sapphire Coast Turf Club made the day very special for us, for which the club is most appreciative. Due to very generous donations, our raffle also raised very needed funds to help us support the four students we sponsor as part of The Smith Family’s work in helping disadvantaged Australian children make the most of their education. The winners of the prizes, were as follows:
Audrey Taylor’s beautiful painting was won by John Ball, the $100 Wheelers Restaurant voucher by Trish Rowe, John Fletcher won the bottle of port, Betty Paxton the $40 voucher from the Wharf Restaurant and the bottle of bubbly was won by Louise Pearson.
During the day we ran a “Fashions in the Field” which was won by Cathy Smith.
