2018 May - Talented Local Musicians Entertain Royalty
It was no surprise that tickets for Nelson Bay VIEW Club’s fanciful fundraising effort for disadvantaged children and their education (through The Smith Family Learning for Life initiative), sold out well in advance of the event.
The idea of a Hen’s Party and Royal Gala Concert to celebrate the forthcoming marriage of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry captured the imagination of attendees. Much fun was had in the acquiring of special outfits, wigs, tiaras and large hats (especially by those ladies of royal descent!).
Meghan looked beautiful and it was very obvious from her choice of designer dress, courtesy of ‘Else and Me’, her regal bearing, her charm and her glorious hair, that she was the star of the afternoon.
Event Organiser, Lorraine Nicol, commented that the guest artists for the Royal Gala Concert were worthy of performing at the Albert Hall:
Soprano, Jenny Rossi, was a superb Kylie Minogue and Sarah Brightman; Tenor Bob Huggett, was a fabulous Elvis, Michael Crawford and Andrea Bocelli; and David Naylor set the piano keys alight with his Sir Elton John melodies. The trio received a standing ovation with guests begging for more!
A delicious afternoon tea befitting the royal occasion was served on tiered stands at the tables. Gourmet sandwiches and divine sweet treats were the order of the day!
The VIEW Club is very appreciative of those who contributed to the success of this fundraising event, especially the incredibly talented artists and Richelle Surch who volunteered for the role of Meghan Markle.
