Parkes Day VIEW Club 50th Birthday
Sue McLennan, Publicity Officer
Parkes Day VIEW Club welcomed one and all to the Masquerade Party that was held to celebrate our 50th Birthday. Officially, the September Meeting was the anniversary, but it was held in August on a Saturday to be able to make it convenient to members and guests to attend.
There were several tables of memorabilia displaying our Club during these years, plus, of our town, our country, and the world in the late 60’s and early 70’s. A list of past Presidents was also displayed, with an explanation of how VIEW Clubs came about.
One of our members was acknowledged for her being part of the Club for 40 years. Congratulations to Rhonda Redenbach for her active association with the Club during this time. She acts as a historian of the Club, taking photos of all events and activities.
Besides birthday celebrations and displays, we also had a large trading table, a raffle of many items, and lucky door prize.
A Shire Councillor, Wally Biles on behalf of the Shire, congratulated the Club, as an active charity association within the Shire, and Mayor Ken Keith was able to drop in also, to convey his congratulations.
