A valued part of The Smith Family

Buderim VIEW Club

Buderim VIEW Club was formed in 1993.

Currently, the Club sponsors six Smith Family Learning for Life students and is actively involved in fundraising activities to raise donations for The Smith Family programs.

Our function room is at the very centrally located Buderim Tavern.  At our luncheon meetings we always have interesting guest speakers.  New members are very welcome.  Attending our club’s events will help raise funds for educating students of underprivileged families.  Luncheon cost is $28.

On the third Wednesday each month we have a social activity/outing.

  • Meeting Day on 1st Wednesday each month

November 2019 Luncheon

Carol Bomford extended a warm welcome to our guest speaker on 6th November, Aaron Caldwell, Senior Constable with Buderim Community Police.  Aaron spoke of his life prior to joining the police force.  He joined the Military at age 19, receiving his initial training in Sydney before being sent to Darwin, Puckapunyal, East Timor and then instructional duties back in Australia.  In 2006 he was deployed again to East Timor and in 2008 to Afghanistan, where he provided security for the engineers as well as for a contingent of visiting Australian media.

In 2009 Aaron decided it was time to transition to civilian life, althogh he is still involved with the Army, having joined the local Reserves.  A part of his role as senior constable is liaising with community groups, including schools, and educating the community in general.

Pat Cooney – Nominee for 'Making a Difference' Award

Buderim VIEW Club member Mrs Pat Cooney has been nominated for the ‘Making a Difference’ Award.  This special award is for women who have gone above and beyond to help their local club and community.  President Jenny Jackson, who nominated Pat for the award, said that Pat has been a member of the Buderim VIEW club for 25 years and her contribution to the club has been significant.  She has held many positions on the committee, including publicity officer, assistant secretary, vice-president, assistant treasurer, and she has compiled the monthly newsletter.  All of those positions are vital for a successful club.

Apart from being busy on the committee, Pat Cooney has been wonderful at writing letters to The Smith Family Learning For Life students, which they have really appreciated.   Pat has enjoyed meeting lots of people as well as helping such a good charity.  Mrs Pat Cooney is such a giving person and has been absolutely wonderful for the VIEW Club and people in general.  This award recognises women who give and Pat has certainly done that for many years.

If you are interested in attending the monthly meeting/lunches, please phone Pat on 5445 6329 by the last Sunday of the month, as the monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month.

2019 January

The two photos were taken at the Australia Day Parade, held in the main street of Buderim.

It was good that the Buderim VIEW Club got off to a good start for 2019 by being involved in this Community Event.
