Gympie VIEW Club was formed in 1995. Each year we celebrate our birthday in October.
Currently, the Club sponsors eight Smith Family Learning for Life students and is actively involved in fundraising activities to raise donations for The Smith Family programs.
GYMPIE VIEW CLUB has over 40 members and covers a large area from Cooroy and Pomona in the south, from Kilkivan and Goomeri in the west, from Curra and Glenwood in the north and from Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach in the east to Gympie in the centre of the region.
We are always open to new members, so please get in touch today and come and see what it's all about.
Besides regular interesting speakers at our monthly meeting we have many social activities during the month. Our active program officers organise activities such as craft days, a cruise and coffee mornings, which are always very popular with members. These activities assist us in raising money to support our Smith Family Learning for Life students, who we have facilitated over many years, as well as enjoying ourselves.

Next was Hervey Bay VIEW Club's 27th birthday in Maryborough where two of our members attended and enjoyed the friendship and entertainment provided.
Lastly for this month was our lunch meeting where twenty ladies attended; our guest speaker was Linda a volunteer at Qld Garden Expo, who also donated two prizes for our raffles. Thanks Linda for a very interesting talk and for the raffle prizes which were greatly appreciated, and assist us to support our Learning for Life students.

We started the month with a much looked forward to social outing, to the Gympie Sports Club which saw thirteen ladies enjoy a lovely lunch with stunning views over the golf course on a beautiful sunny day.
Our next outing was to join one of our fellow zone clubs to celebrate their 15th birthday party at the Hervey Bay Gold Club, Pialba. Fraser Coast VIEW Club made our 5 members very welcome, we were joined by members from the Hervey Bay and Maryborough clubs as well as some future members for the soon to be open Bundaberg Club. Great entertainment, food, birthday cake and great company was enjoyed by all. Thank you Fraser Coast for a great party.
For our monthly lunch meeting, twenty one ladies enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Gympie Bowls Club with our guest speaker Kelly Chapman who spoke about how to navigate the aged care system, very informative, thank you for your time and information Kelly.

Due to the recent flooding in Gympie our social outing at Yo's home was cancelled. As our meeting venue, Gunabul's was unavailable, we were fortunate to secure a substitute venue.
The alternate venue was at Gympie Bowls Club where twenty three members enjoyed a nice lunch, and our guest speaker was Natalie Upshall who spoke about her experience as a Foster Carer, and her role as a coach of Special Olympics. Natalie highlighted the importance of the program for disabled children and the benefits they derive from it, as well as the dedication and passion for sport, including the children of the volunteer coaches.
It was surprising to our members, the number of sports that are available to the children. Thank you Natalie, for your time.
No social outings due to Covid concerns.
On 18 February we had our first meeting of the year and also our elections.
A new committee was elected and was inducted by our new Zone Councillor, Lainie Sanders, we also had a guest speaker from Hearing Australia, Suzanne was very informative and very kindly donated a gift voucher to be raffled a future Meeting.
We are all looking forward to commencing social outings as we have missed our get-togethers.

Also featured, our own version of a horse race which was a lot of fun and created some laughs as well as competitiveness amongst the racers leaving members laughing and having a great time. The sweep winners are pictured. Thank you, Sylvia for a wonderful time.
At this months lunch our guest speaker was Chris Collins, who is a childrens book author, we enjoyed his talk

No guest speaker this month Christine arranged a trivia quiz with an Australian theme, this was won by Susan who scored 17 out of 20, great job Susan.
Our final outing was to Cooloola Berries to join with our sister club from Hervey Bay, we enjoyed a lovely lunch and met new ladies having a lovely time. This time we were in the air-conditioned room which is a lovely spot and Kim Lewis gave us a chat about the farm and its crops as it was too hot for a farm tour.
