What we've been doing
Christmas in July 2021
Christmas in July at Golden Beach Tavern enjoyed by members and their partners
May Luncheon Meeting
Our May meeting was a celebration of friendship and welcome to our guests. We shared a lovely update letter from one of our sponsorship family. It was great to have our book and trading table back operating to help contribute much needed funds to continue to support our five students.
We enjoyed a very informative video and talk by volunteers Geoff and Brian on the amazing organisation and skills of the flight and emergency crews of RACQ Lifeflight and how this life saving service operates.
April 2021 Luncheon—Anzac
Our April meeting was a celebration of Anzac, with members bringing along treasured photos, decorations, medals, diaries and memorabilia. These included embroidered postcards from WWI, medals honouring lost sons, service and courage and a pair of tiny wooden boots carved from a plane propellor. Members shared some of the stories of these treasures. We also honoured our current service personnel and acknowledge the continuing battles many suffer today.
Our guest speaker, Sandy Hart, shared extracts from her grandfather’s diary/letters during WW1 with his two brothers, with a very appreciative audience.
It was wonderful to have two new members receive their badges and to welcome our guests.
March 2021 Meeting
What a fun meeting. Firstly, we all wore our “special bonnets” as a tribute to International Women’s Day, Easter and all our early VIEW members, who wore hats (and gloves) to meetings.
There was lots of interest in our preloved jewellery and bling table. This was a fun way to fundraise with plenty of smiles.
Our guest speaker Barry Cheales, from The Buderim Men’s Shed, shared “secret men’s business” and offered an open invitation for men to join this great group.

27th Birthday Celebration

It was with great excitement that we celebrated our 27th birthday and 60 years of VIEW Clubs Australia at IRT Parklands Leisure Village, Meridan Plains on 25th November. National Councillor Margaret Elliott, guests and club members were entertained by the junior Meridan State College choir and dancers from the senior college. Our guest speaker was Marion Allan from The Smith Family. A beautiful meal was prepared by Caloundra Meals on Wheels.
Our major fund-raising raffle, donated by local artist John Sumpton, and a gourmet hamper were drawn, with lots of lucky door prizes. Our birthday cake was cut and served and this ended an enjoyable and happy day.

Below: Joyce (seated) has been a valued member of VIEW and the Smith Family for 43 years. Sadly, after 23 of those years with Kawana Waters Club, she is retiring at the end of 2020. Joyce has been a valued and knowledgeable club member who will be greatly missed.
