Moreton Bay VIEW Club

About

Moreton Bay VIEW Club was formed in 1997.

Currently, the Club sponsors five Smith Family Learning for Life students and is actively involved in fundraising activities to raise donations for The Smith Family programs.

We are always open to new members, so please get in touch today and come and see what it's all about.

Members make new friends and lifetime friends by attending our monthly luncheon meeting at the Redland Sporting Club as well as participating in a variety of social occasions around the Redlands community.  Visitors, guest and prospective new members are warmly welcomed to our friendly club at our lunchtime meetings held on the second Thursday of every month.

Members of our club are a wonderful and diverse group of women from many walks of life and life stages.

Our VIEW Club members enjoy much fun, laughter and a variety of social activities with like-minded women, who also become good friends. As a group we support financially disadvantaged Australian children's education.

Sunny 2019 September

At our September Meeting we had a guest lecturer from the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ) who spoke on “Driving for the Future”    (just in case any of us ever get old!)

This month we enjoyed a bus trip to Mount Tamborine with lunch at St Bernard’s Hotel .

On another occasion the sun shone as we caught the ferry to Macleay Island for lunch at Club Macleay.

2019 August Birthday

The theme for our 22nd Birthday was “ The Fifties “.
Members were delighted to receive a visit from the newly crowned Queen Elizabeth who presented  20year badges and even conferred a knighthood.
Other personalities from the fifties included Doris Day, 3 Olympians from the 1956 Melbourne Olympics and Marilyn Monroe who sang “Happy Birthday “.
We enjoyed a performance of Rock’n’roll and ended with “The Twist and a singalong to “Que Sera Sera”. Such a fun day!

We celebrated “Xmas in July “at the Grandview Hotel at Cleveland.

 2019 Christmas in July

An Active June

In June we giggled our way through Barefoot Bowls at Cleveland Bowls Club.

Meeting Buddy in April

At our April meeting we had a visit from Buddy the Story Dog and his handler who told us of the program which involves having children read to dogs. The resulting increased enthusiasm for reading is remarkable and many children show amazing improvement.

Busy May

Our May outing is to a performance of  “Caruso to Carreras” at the Redlands Performing Arts Centre.

Guest speaker at the meeting luncheon was from “Rosies” the organisation providing chats and human contact to the homeless.

On another occasion we  met for a fun coffee morning at “Arabica Cafe” at Cleveland.

2019 March

MARCH TRIP TO COOCHIEMUDLO ISLAND

In March we enjoyed a trip to Coochiemudlo Island where we had lunch at the “Red Rock Cafe”.

February High Tea

In February we enjoyed High Tea at “3 Tiers Cafe” at Ormiston

NEW COMMITTEE SWORN IN

At our February  meeting our new committee members were sworn in by National Councillor Lyn Masters. We are all looking forward to a year filled with fun and the satisfaction of knowing we are supporting such a worthy cause in the Smith Family’s” Learning for Life” program.

Our last lunch meeting before Christmas was a very happy occasion with much fun and laughter.  Letters from our Smith Family sponsored children were read; we always look forward to hearing all their news. Lyn has been writing to the children for at least eight years and loves it.

Moreton Bay VIEW Club has had a wonderful fulfilling year in 2018 with a marvellous influx of new members to help in our support of The Smith Family.

2018 Christmas

Along with our annual Secret Santa, we were very lucky to be entertained by barbershop quartet, Quartramania, who sang a delightful variety of their favourite songs and a choice of well known Carols that enhanced the Christmas spirit in all of us.

Manly Harbour Trailer Boat Club

2018 December

Our VIEW members enjoyed some additional outings before the busy Christmas season took hold.  A lovely lunch at the popular Manly Harbour Trailer Boat Club is always well attended because of the view of the marina,  and Barb, Geraldine and Ann are very happy it was such a nice sunny day for their lunch.

Our ladies also enjoyed a High Tea at historic Ormiston House, also included was a tour of the beautiful House, which was the birthplace of the Sugar Cane Industry in Australia.

November 2018 Luncheon

We had a very busy lunch meeting in November, with an interesting discussion on Wedgwood by an enthusiastic collector.

We also held our yearly fundraiser bring and buy tables, along with a Melbourne Cup celebration and a fancy hat parade.

2018 November Visiting the Museum

Our members enjoyed a day spent at the Queensland Museum to see the fascinating display of the ancient Egyptian Mummies this year, followed by lunch in Brisbane city.
