The Gala dinner held in October on the Gold Coast was a roaring success with Qld clubs represented from far and wide. It was also a bonus to have some of our ladies partners joined us that evening.

Heaps of prizes stalls and brilliant entertainment.

Spring High Tea

2022 October

Members and guests enjoyed a delightful High Tea at Seaworld Nara resort on the Gold Coast on the 28th of October this year, with lovely prizes and fabulous auctions. The room was abuzz with lots of fun.

Our organizers Ilma Lee and Susan Johnson ensured everyone had a great time.

The lovely Mariana Earrings were won by Kerri’s highest bid and the wonderful Seaworld Nara Resort Voucher (Valued at $500) was won by Kathy, pictured with Ilma and Susan.

Hippie Magic

2022 October Meeting

The Happy Hippie theme for our October luncheon rekindled memories for  many of our members seen here in a kaleidoscope of color. A fun trip down memory lane.

Our guest speaker for the day Dr. Louise Robertson (of Coastal Eye Surgeons) judged the Best and the Fairest dressed of the day, who was Sue.

Carnival of Flowers

“A small sample of the magical displays we were treated to during our visit to the Carnival of Flowers in Toowoomba”.

2022 October Outing

Despite the not so favorable weather, sixty members and guests boarded a bus to Toowoomba to wander through the magnificent Carnival of flowers. Nothing could dampen the enthusiasm of this group. A lovely day was skillfully organized by Sue and our trusty driver.

Mad Hatters Fun

2022 September

An absolutely mad and delightful day was had by all the ladies attending the Mad Hatters event at the September Luncheon meeting.

Some very impressive and imaginative creations as seen in these photos brought peels of laughter and  heaps of fun. So many deserving contestants, one in particular caught the judge's eye.

Trivia Rules

August 2022

A hugely successful evening at Salecia Waters Recreation Club recently was enjoyed by more than eighty members and guests at a fun filled Trivia event; skillfully organized by Sue our Trivia Queen.

Sue and her helpers put together trivia quests and other games with prizes, raising $2,000 for our Smith Family students that evening. A good time was had by all who attended.

Bastille Day Celebrations

2022 July

Members went all out on the French themed luncheon for July.

Our esteemed Guest speaker, Professor Roley Sussex (pictured Below), enlightened us on the subject of linguistics and the role we share with others when we learn a new language.

The tables were filled with heaps of colour, fun and frivolity.

A sincere Thank you:

Pyjamas and Blanket Donations for Homeless Women and Children.
Once again our members generosity was overwhelming. The Salvation Army gratefully received our donations and will distribute same to homeless women and children.
They were especially grateful because there are even more homeless families after the floods earlier this year.
Many women are sleeping in their cars while their children are sleeping at relatives or friends homes...Relief programs unfortunately move very slowly!

Lunch With Friends

2022 June

An the end of June lunch with friends was enjoyed by all at a local Main Beach restaurant. The sumptuous comestibles were a surprise and delight.

Birthday Celebrations

Shirley, one of our newest members did the honors of cutting the cake.  A lovely day was enjoyed by all.

2022 May

Members and guests helped celebrate our Club's 29th Birthday.  It was great to have some of our long time members returning for this occasion, including one of our previous Presidents, Vicki, pictured with two of our long standing members, Jacquie and Carole.

Lots of activities on the day.  Our MEGA Raffle brought lots of smiles for the winners pictured  with their prizes. We were also thoroughly entertained by our consummate guest speaker Rod Preston who's presentation on the history of Australia Post was filled with humour and genuine facts.

Getting Creative

Guest Speakers for April were Deanne and Ian Edwards, a recently retired couple of Special Educators now producing a variety of creations in millinery and furnishings with a unique flair.
The collage of photos below showcases a small sample of Ian and Deanne's work,  displayed on the day. The WOW factor was quite audible.

2022 April

Our Easter themed April Luncheon meeting brought together a roomful of colourful outfits with some very creative Easter bonnets.  You can see the variations in the photo of the ladies lined up for the parade.

Best bonnet went to Gwyneth (featured at the centre).  Second prize to Katherine for her Peter Rabbit pink top hat.  Wonderful effort from all the ladies  All the creations deserve a mention.

Seafood Cruise in March 2022

Members and their guests enjoyed a glorious day out on the water with Sea World Cruises; so fortunate with the weather.  On the Boat Cruise we were well looked after by Skipper Michael and his wonderful crew June, Zoe, Lahsha and Craig. The seafood spread was excellent which matched the service.

Getting to Know Members

Learning about Hearing Loss

As part of our program this year we have decided to introduce a getting to know you interview activity, where we invite members to tell us a bit about themselves in order to get a snapshot of their life story.

A set of pre-set questions is given to each person to make the process easier for the interviewee. This month the interviewees pictured were Christine, Ilma, Val and Katherine.

We were regaled with facts, anecdotes and humour, and hope to continue with this activity in months to come.

In addition Val introduced our delightful Guest Speaker Dr Andrew Campbell, who spoke to us on the benefits of correcting hearing loss early. He advocates that Loss of Hearing can Rob the Mind.  That was certainly food for thought.

Helping Others

Trolley after trolley were loaded for delivery to the Flood Relief centre.  Two large trucks carrying approximately 2,000 grocery, food, care packages every day were delivered to numerous evacuation and Community support centres.

Our Club is very proud to have been part of that effort.

2022 March

Shown in this photo is but a fraction of the enormous result in our efforts to support the community of Lismore during this months disastrous floods.

At the instigation of our Club Secretary Annette and President Lyn the response was overwhelming from our members. The truckloads were delivered by Annette and her husband Ivan as well Lyn and her husband Gary to a charity called Love this City. Lyn said, they were extremely well organized and most grateful for our donations.

2022 February

Our club opened the new year with an interesting theme.

As Australia Day had already passed it was decided we should still have an opportunity to celebrate our culture as well as other cultures and people that we welcome officially on Australia Day.  Hence the variation of colours and costumes in this edition of our website.
