Southport Day VIEW Club was formed in 1987.

Currently, the Club sponsors twentyone Smith Family Learning for Life students and is actively involved in fundraising activities to raise donations for The Smith Family programs.

We are always open to new members, so please get in touch today and come and see what it's all about.

Wednesday 20th October 2021

103 ladies enjoyed our guest speaker Andy Bell, from Advent Security, share his stories of his time as an undercover cop in New Zealand. Black and Orange for Halloween was the theme for lunch on Wednesday 20th October. The tables set the scene with fantastic decorations and the ladies followed by wearing the Black and Orange colours.  The room looked fabulous with the Halloween theme.

2021 November

What a lovely lunch at The Terrace Thai on Friday 5th November that the members and guests experienced. The food was delicious with spring rolls and curry puffs for entrée, Massaman Beef curry and Chicken with cashew nut for main with special rice.




2021 Wednesday 20th October

2021 October Cruise

What a glorious day it was! 65 ladies boarded the Seaworld Cruise boat for a 2 hour cruise while enjoying a 2 course Seafood lunch on Thursday 7th October. 

We commenced our journey from HOTA’s (Home of the Arts) ferry stop to the Broadwater and back. 

The weather was perfect, couldn’t have been better, the lunch delicious, the wine/champagne flowing and the company was fantastic. What more can you ask for! 

Everyone had a fabulous time!

2021 September 

On Wednesday 15th September 2021, 106 ladies were entertained by Clinical Hypnotherapist Sylvia St Clair. Sylvia spoke about how she became interested in hypnotherapy and how it helps her to manage the pain in her hip while she waits for hip replacement surgery. She explained how hypnotherapy helps with pain management, quit smoking, quit alcohol, relieving depression, positive thinking and much, much more.  



2021 September High Tea

Wow what a fantastic day it was on Friday 3rd September at our High Tea party. Sixty ladies enjoyed delicious sandwiches, slices, scones & savouries, so much food AND endless supply of Champagne, Wine, Soft Drink or Juice.  The ambience of the room complemented the wonderfully decorated tables.  The ladies had a chance to win a raffle from the 15 prizes available. Kelli, a member, from One Bird Jewellery & Accessories entertained the ladies with a jewellery making demonstration. A big thank to the ladies organising the High Tea, who are members but not our Committee ladies. Well done Girls!




2021 August - Holiday Anyone?

Holiday anyone?  Amanda Harvey from QLD Rail Travel entertained and informed 95 ladies on Wednesday 18th August about all the holiday destination by Rail. She spoke about the different holiday packages available from Brisbane to Far North Qld, Longreach, Charleville etc, from Cairns to Normanton and Karumba, from Townsville to Mount Isa, just to name a few. She also told the ladies of the special deals that are offered now until 2022, especially if you have a concession.




2021 July

Robert and Charles from Geras Partners Aged Care Professionals were our Guest Speakers at our luncheon on Wednesday 21st July.  They gave the 99 ladies attending an informative insight into how to alleviate the stress of the complicated process of requiring home and aged care and what options you have when considering a new lifestyle.

The ladies celebrated ‘Xmas in July’ with a ‘Turkey, Tinsel & Tartan’ Theme.  Everyone got into the spirit of the theme and there was Tartan everywhere. The tables were lovely decorated with a homemade stuffed Turkey made by our clever member Margaret Cogar



The 90 members attending the luncheon enjoyed an interesting talk by Ceal Kupiak from Youth With a Mission (YWAM) Training and Medical Ship PNG. We take our hats off to these people who work on the Medical Ship in PNG, for their vital work to ensure Papua New Guineans receive basic health care. Ceal was a delight to have as a guest and a wonderful speaker.

New members Robyn Gates and Peggy Scanlon received their badges and decade badges were presented to Julia Curr-Parkes (20 years), Barbara Carroll (10 years and Barbara Jordan (10 years).  Congratulations to our new members and our seasoned members in receiving their badges.







A little over 30 members enjoyed a 'lunch in the park' at the Moondarewa Spit in Doug Jennings Park on Friday 4th June. Although the wind was a little fresh to start with, it was a bright sunny day. Thank you to the committee for all their hard work, especially the ladies who provided the scrumptious meal for lunch and Pam for her delicious desserts.



The room was jumping when Southport celebrated their 34th Birthday on Wednesday 19th May with a ‘Pearls & Lace’ Theme. 107 ladies attended and everyone had a great time. Zone Councillor QC01 Lorraine Thompson presented a 30year badge to Valami Nicholls and new member badges to Barbara Rosier, Beryl Davies, Colleen Cosgrove, Kaye Drowley and Lee Thompson. The tables were once again beautifully decorated by Deborah our Vice President. The cake was cut with two of our original members and two ladies who were celebrating their BIG birthdays in May. The ladies enjoyed being entertained by John Vella, even doing a dance ‘train’ throughout the tables.




Friday 7 May Social Fisherman's Wharf

"A fantastic day was enjoyed by approximately 40 members and guests at Fisherman’s Wharf Tavern at Main Beach. 

The weather was perfect and the company great."




2021 April Meeting

Photo from our meeting held on Wednesday 21 April of member Jan Muller thanking our very interesting guest speaker Clare Blake from the QIMR Berghofer. a world-leading medical research institute located in Brisbane who spoke to us on the medical research undertaken for cancer, mental health, infectious diseases and chronic disorders.

Our social day on Friday 9 April at Yuyin Chinese Cuisine in Southport where ladies enjoyed Yum Cha.



2021 March Meeting

The meeting held on Wednesday 17 March celebrating St Patricks' Day and International Women's Day.  Guest speaker was Jenny Crewes (pictured with Deborah) who spoke openly on behalf of her sister, Maggie, who works tirelessly for Hope for Justice, Cambodia.


2021 February Social Day

The first social function for 2021 at Sea and Shore Restaurant at Labrador on Friday 5 February shows ladies having a wonderful meal and happy day.

Social Day at Robina Pavilion on Friday 5 March 2021 - another great day





Our next social function will be held on Friday, 5 July at 12 for 12.30 pm at Dublin Docks Tavern at Harbourtown Shopping Centre.

Cost is $25 for a 2 course lunch plus glass of bubbly and will include a fashion parade by Sorbet Fashions.

Baby Give Back

Thank you to guest speaker Carly Fradgley from Baby Give Back, babygiveback.org.au, for her enlightening talk on how the organisation grew from her garage approximately 2 years ago to where it is today operating with many willing volunteers from a warehouse in Burleigh. Baby Give Back supports the local community by collecting and recycling baby essentials for those families who are experiencing hardship. Any donations for this worthy cause can be brought to any of our meetings and they will be passed on.

Purple Poncho Photo Competition Results

There were 64 entries which saw a fifth category Ponchos in Iso added with COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020 and due to the number of entrants Fun and Frivolous was divided into separate categories. Congratulations to all entrants.
