A valued part of The Smith Family

International Women’s Day 2018  Brisbane

Michelle Carmichael, Tertiary Team Leader (TSF Brisbane), and Jamie-Lee Duckworth, Learning for Life student, recently attended a VIEW International Women’s Day High Tea. Hosted by the three Western suburbs VIEW Clubs (Centenary Evening, Chapel Hill and Kenmore)  to celebrate International Women’s Day 2018 it was attended by a number of other VIEW Clubs as well as Acting National Councillor, Lyn Masters.

Members of VIEW always enjoy listening to the stories of Learning for Life students and Jamie-Lee’s story was no exception. Jamie -Lee indicated that she would not be where she is now, and had no idea how she would have ever managed without the support of The Smith Family. She thanked VIEW for their support of disadvantaged students to further their education.

Some eighty-four VIEW Members and friends attended the event with messages from our local parliamentary members and Cathy Hunt, Executive Producer of the Women of the World Festival (WOW) as guest speaker. The WOW Festival is being held in Brisbane to coincide with the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. A very enjoyable day!
