Holdfast Evening VIEW Club
About
Holdfast Evening VIEW Club celebrated its 14th Birthday in October, 2022. We are a friendly Club of 56 members who meet monthly for dinner, with an interesting guest speaker.
We are immensely proud of the eleven students we are sponsoring for 2023, with The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program, especially the past student who we sponsored for 10 years. She graduated from University, and we are thrilled for her. We supported this tertiary student from her Primary School years through to her final year of nursing.
To support our student scholarships, we hold an annual movie afternoon (see below), we have a large stall at a local Market, and we have monthly raffles and quarterly trading tables.
We hold monthly coffee mornings for members who can make it and organise outings bimonthly. You will see photos of our outings below. We also support other VIEW club fundraisers and have lots of fun and meet new friends.
We always welcome visitors and new members, so please visit us, enjoy our company, and support the education of disadvantaged Australian students.

14th Birthday Celebrations in October 2022
Citrus colours, yellow and orange were chosen as the theme colours for table decorations and outfits. The Function Room looked extremely colourful as a result.
Our Guest Speaker organised at short notice was Sue Taylor from Palazzo Boutique Glenelg. She gave a heartfelt presentation on lifes’ difficulties.
We held a huge cosmetics sale of new gifted product as a fundraiser and this was very successful as a fundraiser.
Lorraine and Lorraine are citrus stunners, while Marg and Jill raise an early toast.
N.C. Pauline looks fabulous! And President Rosie cuts the cake
Annual Movie Fundraiser in 2022
In May, we held a most successful and enjoyable viewing of Downton Abbey the New Era at Event Cinemas, Glenelg.
The movie theatre foyer was filled with our many raffle prizes and book, plant and lucky wine stalls. These were well supported by the almost 200 people attending, and a fine profit was made to fund our nine student scholarships.

2022 Supporting our local The Smith Family (TSF) Office
Our members donate of their time and otherwise, to support the work of our local The Smith Family Office (TSF), and the students they support.
Colourful reading rugs and library bags are made by members for the students, and members generously donate stationery and backpacks as required.
Local Companies also donate items through our members, who collect goods and deliver them to our local TSF Office.

Outing In April 2022
Program Officer Marg acted as our tour guide, for a carpooling outing to Karkoo Nursery, for morning coffee and homewares purchasing, and then Beerenberg Farm for a delicious lunch in their new café, and strawberry picking.
What an interesting day, with a lovely drive in the hills, and lots of friendship too.
COVID Challenges Us! In March 2022
When our Venue cancelled our St Patrick's Day Dinner that night, our Program Officers Marg and Athalie swung into action, booking the local Footy Club and ordering in eight super large pizzas!
Our guest speaker modified her interesting talk too, on World War 1 postcards.
Some of us had fun for St Pat’s Day too. Below left, Elaine won our best St Pat’s Day outfit. We love welcoming new members too! Below right, Josephine, with President Rosie.

A long Summer lunch and chat was enjoyed by all!
