Holdfast Evening VIEW Club celebrates its 14th Birthday this October 12th, 2022. We are a friendly Club of 55 members who meet monthly for dinner, with an interesting guest speaker.
We are immensely proud of the nine students we sponsor with The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program, especially the student we sponsored for 10 years. She graduated last year from University, and we are thrilled for her. We supported this tertiary student from her Primary School years through to her final year of nursing. To support our student scholarships, we hold an annual movie afternoon (see below), we have a stall at the Blackwood Market, and we have monthly raffles and quarterly trading tables.
We hold monthly coffee mornings for members who can make it, and organise outings bimonthly. You will see photos of our outings below.
During COVID, we have actively supported our members through telephone trees and newsletters, and we have continued to donate generously to support our students. Some members have been creative making items to raise funds, and have made reading mats and bags for the Learning for Life programs. Sentence deleted here.
We always welcome visitors and new members, so please visit us, enjoy our company, and support the education of disadvantaged Australian students.

Outing In April 2022
Program Officer Marg acted as our tour guide, for a carpooling outing to Karkoo Nursery, for morning coffee and homewares purchasing, and then Beerenberg Farm for a delicious lunch in their new café, and strawberry picking.
What an interesting day, with a lovely drive in the hills, and lots of friendship too.
COVID Challenges Us! In March 2022
When our Venue cancelled our St Patrick's Day Dinner that night, our Program Officers Marg and Athalie swung into action, booking the local Footy Club and ordering in eight super large pizzas!
Our guest speaker modified her interesting talk too, on World War 1 postcards.
Some of us had fun for St Pat’s Day too. Below left, Elaine won our best St Pat’s Day outfit. We love welcoming new members too! Below right, Josephine, with President Rosie.
An Outing to Seacliff Surf Club In February 2022.
A long Summer lunch and chat was enjoyed by all!
2021 Birthday in October
The theme for our 13th Dinner was Purples, Pearls and Poppies with entertainment by Little Sylvie. Our table decorations were awesome!
South Australia Gala
Our twice postponed 2020 S.A. Gala was finally held last January, at Morphettville Racecourse, with a Cup Day theme. We had a race call and purchased our bets, winning cash prizes for places in the race. Being our first major VIEW event since Covid lockdowns, it was a great day of fun and catching up with our VIEW friends.

Successful Movie Afternoon in November 2020
Despite COVID 19 forcing the cancellation of our June Movie Afternoon, we were able to hold this in November, with restricted seating across two theatres for 128 guests. We enjoyed the new release Radioactive, and were delighted to raise over $2000 to help fund most of our students scholarships through to 2023. Our Program officers Margie and Athalie endured many anxious negotiations to achieve this.
