Picnic In The Park
Rather than bemoan the fact that COVID-19 concerns had once again cancelled our luncheon at The Junction, we relocated to the Oaklands Wetlands for a picnic.
BYO chairs, lunch and drinks were the order of the day for our catch up. It was just great to see each other again, and in such a lovely setting. The day certainly put the fun and friendship back into VIEW. Even the kookaburras, magpies and corellas joined in!
I just can’t believe that I have been a member of Marion VIEW Club for 20 years.
Within a short time I had joined a Mah Jong group followed by a Book Club, and, for a short time, a discussion group. I now play Rummy every other Monday. I have met so many wonderful interesting people along the way.
The highlight was becoming the second President in 2005 and 2006; the most nervous President Marion has ever had I’m sure.
Pauline, who had joined VIEW on the same day as I did, was Secretary. We had a wonderful committee and during this time we had a fashion parade at the Glenelg Golf Club. I think the biggest fund raiser so far.
Eight of us travelled to Geelong for the Convention which was a lot of fun. So many lovely memories. Thank you all for being so friendly.
Ten Year Service Awards
The Marion VIEW Club congratulates Janice and Riet who have been members of the Club for 10 years.
2022 Australia Day
Pauline Glover, who is a member of the Marion VIEW Club and National Counsellor for South Australia, receiving the City of Marion's Citizen of the Year 2022 Award for the decades she has spent reaching out to the Marion Community.
2022 Catch Up
Due to COVID restrictions our Book Club decided to meet at the Oaklands Reserve. It was great catching up after a long break.
We took our lunch, caught up on the gossip and finally talked about books we had read. The weather was great and we will do it again next month
Ten Year Service Recipients
Congratulations to Joan, Lynette and Bronwyn, who received their 10 year Award Recognition.
2021 Christmas Celebrations
What a wonderful year we've had on the trading table. We couldn't do it without all the wonderful donations from our members.
The Hon. Corey Wingard MP was a guest at our December luncheon. He is very supportive of our Marion VIEW Club.
Listening to Corey are L-R: Chris, Michele and Shirley
At the November Luncheon these six very special ladies received their 20-year badges:

President Mandy stepped down from her usual role and became our Guest Speaker for the Luncheon.
In a salute to Remembrance Day she spoke about Sister Vivian Bullwinkel whose life she’d researched. Her moving account of Sister Vivian’s inspirational life and her experiences during World War 11 was quite confronting and very moving.
There wasn’t a dry eye among the ladies when she finished. Thank you Mandy, we all thought you were wonderful.
Photo below of Shirley with Glyn Scott, our October Speaker, who was inspirational as she told us how she'd turned the trauma of her early life into helping others, giving them the hope and support needed to change their lives. What an amazing lady!
Jan, seen in photo below, helping to set up the Garage Sale which changed Janice's carport into a fashion boutique. The wonderful ladies of Marion VIEW donated the clothes which eventually raised nearly $1000 which will go towards supporting our Learning for Life students.
Below, Janice can be seen receiving a $500 donation from The Glengowrie Retirement Village management. Club ladies went to the village to hear a talk about village life and Janice gave some of the residents an overview of what we do at VIEW.
Marion VIEW Club supports Port Augusta's Smith Family and this year our ladies donated stationery and back packs to them. Mick, pictured below, was most appreciative of their generosity.
Mandy, photo below with Jenny, is holding the Club's PIG to which ladies donate a coin and tell members of something special that has happened in their life recently. In Jenny's case she had become a Great Nana to Maddison.
The September birthday girls, L-R: Marie, Janice, Pauline, Sue and Marilyn
Our September outing was a bus trip visiting venues on the Campbelltown Food Trail and tasting their wares. Shown on the photo below, we are out the front of The Mercato which specializes in Italian food where we had a pasta-making demonstration followed by a delicious lunch.

2021 August Outing
Sixteen ladies spent a lovely morning at Carrick Hill, a beautiful home and gardens, which contains a large collection of drawings, sculptures, paintings and antiques.
A pleasant lunch at the Torrens Arms Hotel followed, accompanied by lots of chatter and general camaraderie.

Fabulous 2021 International Womens's Day
Marion VIEW Club celebrated a FABULOUS 9th International Women’s Day at the Marion Hotel on Friday 5th of March.
One hundred and ninety one ladies enjoyed a great lunch, and were entertained by guest speaker, Jessica Leo-Kelton, Editor of the Sunday Mail, followed by Alison from Sorbet, highlighting this season’s fashion with her presentation.
The day was a wonderful Fund Raiser for the Learning for Life students we support through The Smith Family.
We are looking forward to our 10th International Women’s Day in 2022.
