Southern Vales VIEW Club

About

The Southern Vales VIEW Club was formed on 9th June 2006. Our members have great fun socialising whilst committed to providing educational opportunities for disadvantaged children in the southern region by sponsoring five Learning For Life students from Reception to Year 12, through community fund raising, including Bunnings BBQs, raffles, and special events.

We hold monthly lunch meetings, with interesting guest speakers. Members enjoy regular outings to places of interest, visiting other VIEW Clubs in the South, the annual Gala Day and International Women’s Day, also monthly coffee mornings, Mahjong and a Book Club.

2022 Outing

After a foggy and drizzly start to our outing, the weather improved for thirteen ladies and seven gentlemen (pictured below), who arrived at Goolwa Wharf for a 90-minute cruise on The Spirit of the Coorong to the Murray Mouth and return.

This was a very interesting cruise including sighting birds which fly from Siberia via Alaska and on to The Coorong each year. We also saw many other bird varieties as well as Black Swans and their young. Afterwards we all enjoyed lunch at Bombora on the River, where all agreed the meals were very enjoyable but all felt like the fat seals we had seen lazing on the lock.  Overall everyone had a great day.

High Tea

2022 July

During July, thirty seven members and guests attended a Spectacular High Tea to celebrate The Smith Family's 100 years.  Members had been busy making their spectacles for the occasion. The venue was The Oak Room at Hastwell Winery in McLaren Vale.

President Vanessa provided a fun break down on the history of High Teas and Members enjoyed delicious sandwiches and cakes with a glass of bubbles on arrival.

We were delighted that our National Councillor Pauline Glover and Zone Councillor Heather Smigiel together with eight members of The Tonsley VIEW Club joined us to help celebrate this wonderful milestone for The Smith Family.

2022 Update

Members will be celebrating our Club's 16th Birthday in August. We now sponsor five Learning For Life students. Our memorial student was possible through generous donations from family and friends of one of our inaugural members, Marie Yeend, who sadly passed away in 2021.

We have enjoyed some lovely outings and guest speakers since the lifting of Covid restrictions, and have welcomed new members recently.  Membership now stands at thirty one (31). We are holding a Spectacular High Tea to celebrate 100 years of The Smith Family in July.
