Tonsley VIEW Club
About
Tonsley VIEW Club is a dynamic and vibrant VIEW Club, inaugurated in October 2021, after just 7 months in formation. S.A.’s nineteenth VIEW Club, Tonsley VIEW was formed with 50 Inaugural Members, and a full Committee of 11.
As at May 2023, we have eight Learning for Life sponsored students paid through to 2024, Four students sponsored on Digital Learning Essentials Packs and 65 Members. We had a stellar first year raising $12,748 for The Smith Family (TSF) including our student sponsorships, donations to Campaigns, and with donations of learning materials to our local TSF Office, and the families they support.
We also had lots of fun at social outings, VIEW National Convention in Adelaide, and key fundraisers including two Fashion Parades and a Quiz Afternoon. 2023 offers similar events and more.
We always welcome visitors, so please get in touch with our Contacts, and come and enjoy one of our monthly Luncheons.

Events 2023
Monster Garage Sale
We began our 2023 fundraising with a hugely successful Monster Garage Sale, held over the weekend of March 25-26th at member Jen’s garden. Our Members had collected a mountain of preloved items to sell, and we were blessed with perfect weather one day, and the skies opened the next! One member had sold valuable donated items on Marketplace prior, and raised $1000 from sales and donations to TSF. Unsold items were delivered by members to local Op Shops. Member Judy had a prescheduled clothing sale organised at her home the same week, and donated all proceeds to TSF also.We thank our partners for all their help on the weekend.
2023 Fashion Parade
In May we had a Fashion Parade as a major Fundraiser. Taking Shape Fashions, Hallett Cove Store, ran a fabulous parade for us with our members Pat, Mary, Marlene and Marie modelling quality garments, matched with beautiful shoes and jewellery. The 90 ladies attending were really able to appreciate the fabrics used in the well-staged program, and many sales were made after the Parade.
We then enjoyed a quality Devonshire tea with huge scones made by a family member in the catering trade, enjoyed with mini pots of Beerenberg jams and cream with continuous tea and coffee.
Supporters from Adelaide City Evening VIEW Club and the plant stall.
The raffle table of prizes and trading tables were groaning with donated items and we were able to make a substantial profit towards funding two more student scholarships, and a donation to The Smith Family Winter Appeal. A great outcome!
Outings
Our 2023 outings began with a visit to Main and Cherry Winery at Chandlers Hill, in the southern foothills of Adelaide.
Coffee Mornings
Each month, our Club arranges a coffee morning at local businesses. La Crema was the venue for our April morning tea. This is the chance to chat with members informally and make new friends.
Our 2022 Events
Fundraising with Fun!
Led by our Fundraising Committee, we raised $7,000 for The Smith Family. Functions included two Fashion Parades and a Quiz Afternoon, great fundraisers but also a lot of fun, with great prizes too. Our monthly raffles and trading tables were also excellent fundraisers, with great support from our members bringing quality items to sell, and in turn buying.
Below are photos of our May Fashion Parade and our August Quiz Afternoon…lots of happy faces!
Using our Fundraising and Member’s Donations
Members donated generously in December 2022, with items requested by our local The Smith Family Southern Office, to help set their students up for 2023.
We also funded STEM kits from our fundraising
Outings for Fun and our Information too.
Autumn guided tour of Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens, and Dunluce Castle historic home, Brighton, where we enjoyed morning tea in the dining room.
Monthly Luncheons with Guest Speakers and more smiles!
2022 VIEW Convention comes to Adelaide!
As a brand new VIEW Club, the postponed VIEW Convention coming to Adelaide gave us a great way to find out about VIEW very fast, and have lots of fun with new friends. We packed Convention satchels, hosted functions, helped our member Jennie make the stunning table centre-pieces, dressed as clowns if we wanted, and even met our National President, Margaret Woodhouse.
