Vale Doris

South Australia's oldest VIEW member Doris Daniels who shuffled off this mortal coil on 3rd February 2023. Doris was born on 16th December 1923.

As the minister at her farewell service stated in relation to cricket she scored 99- not quite the 100. Having joined Victor Harbor SA VIEW in 2003 Doris became a 20 year valued member. In 2007 -2008-2009-2011 she led the club as President taking on the role with enthusiasm.  2013-2014 she was still showing her support as Vice-President.

Along with her daughter Margaret W, who also has held many positions on the Victor Harbor Committee, they were always recognised as the mother and daughter pair at many functions over the years.

At the last SA Gala held with a racing theme at Morphettville Racecourse Doris was presented with the honour of being The Grand Old Grey Mare.  We did ask her permission to award this on the day however Margaret said that the "old" bit didn't go down too well!

An added personal touch took place on the day of farewelling Doris when a request was made for people to write messages on the coffin; It could be said that everyone there knew that Doris had been very involved with VIEW.

Doris will be missed by her family and friends at Victor Harbor SA VIEW, many of whom were present at her delightful service.
