Geelong Day VIEW Club is a leading women’s volunteer organisation and support network that empowers women to have their voices heard on issues of importance in Australian society.
We support seven ‘Learning for Life’ students with scholarships in the belief the best way to enable children to become independent and able to care for themselves can only be achieved through full access to and utilisation of educational resources.
Our club not only provides the opportunity to meet regularly with likeminded women from all walks of life, but we listen to interesting guest speakers while dining and enjoying the friendship of our large group. New members are welcome to come along and participate at whatever level is comfortable for you.
Social events include a fashion parade, plant stall, high tea bridal display, sausage sizzles and a birthday celebration dinner. We need people of all backgrounds, all skill sets and all perspectives, so yours are wanted. Come along to a meeting and enjoy yourself.

A brand new committee was sworn in for 2020, so the club is excited and looking forward to another fantastic year of fellowship and various functions to raise money to support our 7 Learning for Life Students.
Geelong Day VIEW Club started the year by welcoming 6 new members at the AGM and presenting them with their Club badges. Wonderful way to start the new year.
L-R Di Smart, Mira Olsen, Gwenda May, Lee Lee, Monica Constable and Pam Oke with the gorgeous bags.
Pam Oke and her wonderful team of happy packers filled over 100 pamper packs, which are donated to Bethany Community Support services. The small drawstring bags are lovingly sewn by View members in bright material, then filled with essentials such as deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush comb, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, soap and tissues.
The packs are a welcome gift to deserving women, who often arrive at Bethany’s doorstep with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Experiencing family violence can be a frightening and lonely situation. Bethany Community Support offers counseling, support and advice to women who are experiencing, family violence, or after separation.
Birthday Legs 11
The Geelong Day VIEW Club celebrated their 11th birthday by kicking up their legs to a few tunes. A demonstration of line dancing had the ladies up on their feet trying out the basic steps, and showing off their gorgeous legs in coloured stockings.
A couple of bright sparks were quite risque having borrowed their tights from their grandchildren. A great fun day enjoyed by all!

A spectacular display of Bridal Fashions through the decades.
The Geelong Day VIEW Club held a highly successful Easter Bridal High Tea on Monday, 15 April, at the truly beautiful Chateau Antoinette, Lara. The wonderful display of vintage bridal gowns dated from 1926 through to the year 2000. The wedding dresses were displayed on shop models and memorabilia and wedding photos were on show around an ornate indoor swimming pool.
The champagne flowed along with savouries and petite cakes of all varieties in abundance and a maestro played the grand piano with soft background music. The 140 ladies attending were dressed to impress for the occasion in their very best wedding outfits, some having travelled from as far away as Castlemaine, Elwood and Bendigo.
This very special fundraiser will help support our Learning for Life students.
Well done to the wonderful hard working committee.
Books for Geelong Children
A car loaded to capacity with books and stationary items were delivered by Judith and Monica to the VIEW Office in North Geelong where they were very gratefully accepted.
The 54 ladies in our club are enthusiastic about suppling these essential supplies to the deserving children in Geelong's northern suburbs.

Geelong Day VIEW Club’s awe inspiring achievements for 2018
The dynamic ladies of the Geelong Day VIEW club have worked diligently all year to produce a wonderful array of essentials to distribute throughout the Geelong community. They knitted 790 beanies and 66 mittens, some of which go to the newly enrolled prep children of the Northern suburbs to keep them warm in winter. Also knitted were 42 premature baby beanies, 117 scarves and 35 very colourful rugs.

Our wonderful sewing team made 381 Library bags which are essential for Prep students to enable them to borrow books. To top off that 1727 brand new books (worth over $30,000) which came to us via the Geelong Juvenile Literacy Program, were delivered to The Smith Family’s Northern Bay College office during September. What an Effort!!
We supplied Bethany with 150 draw string Pamper Packs beautifully sewed thanks to Vera Spurling and filled with essentials such as deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush comb, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, soap and tissues. A huge thank you to Pam Oke and her team of happy packers.
Our fund raiser for the year was a successful Fashion Parade by Montana Fashions and thanks to that committee we raised over $2,000. This enable the Club to purchase multiple Joy Spreaders, Book Vouchers and support our 6 Learning for Life students. All round a very satisfying and profitable year.
Monday 22nd October 100 women enjoyed a Fashion Parade held at the East Geelong Golf Course.
The beautiful clothes were modeled by the talented members of the Geelong Day VIEW Club. Dressed in the very latest fashions they showed the women how to mix and match their outfits.
A demonstration was given on how to tie your scarf so it stays flat and tidy around your neck.
Lunch as usual was a gourmets delight with quiches, sausage rolls, sandwiches, topped of by the delicious sweets which even included home made vanilla slices.
A huge thank you to the wonderful committee who helped to make the day flow along so nicely. Also thank you to Montana Fashions from Portarlington who provided the clothes.
Funds raised will go toward our 6 students in the Learning For Life Program.
Geelong Day VIEW helping students to sew
The Geelong Day VIEW Club was approached by Smith Family to run an 8 week sewing program in a North Geelong school to give 14 students some sewing skills. Vera Spurling together with her friend Rose Rossi very kindly put their hands up for the challenge.
Students were shown how to make a sampler, how to sew a hem, and how to sew on a button, to help them to repair their uniforms.
They designed a cushion each and hand sewed and appliquéd bits onto the delightfully coloured cushions. They were delighted and very proud of the result as the photo shows.
