Message from our New President
Hello lovely ladies,
I am really looking forward to serving you and our Club as President in 2020. I hope you are all staying connected in these challenging times. Like you, my past routines have had to be put on hold and this can be disconcerting. However I am actually enjoying this new found opportunity to re-think my behaviours both socially and financially. I’m enjoying this time to think and reflect.
My life had slowed down with the absence of deadlines and schedules, to a more mindful pace, and I’m feeling at peace with myself. I’ve re-discovered the card game patience and my one thousand dot-to-dot picture book creations are now appearing. Our Club have mastered Zoom Conferencing and we are most proud of ourselves, and the wonderful way it has connected us all. But most importantly I am sure we are aware that by reaching out to others and helping those in need not only reflects our pledge, but demonstrates what we need most in this world at the moment. I am celebrating my friendships but I am also mindful that it is so important to BE a friend.
Stay well and happy my friends. Prue
2020 International Women’s Day Lunch
The twelfth of March was a beautiful warm day as a dozen or so Geelong Evening VIEW ladies boarded the train in Geelong and met up with each other at various stops along the way into Southern Cross station. Then some taxied, some walked the short distance to Rivers Edge in Docklands.
The event was a brilliant success as always. The IWD theme was Each for Equal. An Equal World is an Enabled World. We heard National Vice President Beryl Pike deliver a rousing speech about the powers of women through past and recent times and we heard from General Manager of The Smith Family Anton Leschen. An emotional story was delivered by Emily Fioramonte who was a LFL student and is now studying at tertiary level about to fulfil her dreams of becoming a Human Rights Lawyer. We were all so moved by her words. Amanda Catanach from Catanach Jewellers spoke about her involvement in the family business over the years with all its struggles and successes.
A wonderful day was enjoyed by all, filled with lots of friendly chatter, a glorious view of the river from a huge window, amazing raffle prizes, lovely food and wines, and the company of the wonderful women of VIEW.
September 2019
On 3rd September 2019, Prue, Barb and Meryl from Geelong Evening VIEW delivered a huge tub-load of donations to the South Geelong warehouse of Geelong Mums. They were warmly greeted and were able to have a small tour of the warehouse.
Items donated were children’s and babies clothing, nappies, blankets, shoes, books and toys.
26th Birthday Celebrations
We had a wonderful celebration for our Birthday, our theme this year was Intrepid Traveler so we got to wear or bring anything that has been brought back from our travels.
We had some wonderful stories shared and beautiful ornaments and items from travels far and wide, we laughed out loud at the adventures of our group.
It was a wonderful evening of fun.
