VA01 Day Trip to Portarlington
A lovely day was had by all thirty-two ladies from the Eltham, Greensborough and Heidelberg VIEW Clubs on their combined trip to Portarlington. On a sunny autumn day the ferry motored down the Yarra and out onto Port Phillip Bay for the hour long trip to the Bellarine Peninsula.
Once there, members enjoyed a tour of the National Trust Old Mill, a beautiful three storey sandstone building, constructed in the 1860s as a steam-powered flour mill. We were especially pleased to be taken on our tour by volunteers Jennie and Pat, who were members of Drysdale VIEW Club!
After The Mill tour, members enjoyed a delicious lunch at The Grand Hotel, another historic building, overlooking the beautiful beach and bay. Members then enjoyed a leisurely walk around the town, enjoying the views, the sunshine and sweet delights from the ice-cream shop. The trip home was highlighted by the sight of dolphins frolicking in the Yarra River.
The pics show Greensborough VIEW members Marg Bell, Vera Lay, Michelle Nye and Leonie Morgan enjoying the sun and the breeze on the bow of the ferry.
