Mother's Day Celebrated

President Shirley presented our nonagenarians with a posy of flowers each.  The ninety year olds are Isabel, Pam, Mary, Margaret and Betty.  Val was absent.

May 2023

In our May meeting, we had a special raffle of a quilt donated by Maureen, and won by Betty, who had lost a lot in the floods last year.

Members paid tribute to their mothers by bringing along something that was owned by our mother.  Bernice brought her mother.

2023 April with Valerie

Our guest speaker, Valerie Skinner, was the intrepid 85 year old Mountaineer who has not finished climbing.  She has scaled Mount Blanc a number of times as well as mountains in another seven countries.

The photographs of Valerie on top of ridges and mountains was breathtaking. No one was tempted to join her in her passion.

Aquis Horse Stud In Photos

Thirty nine Members and friends enjoyed a trip to Canungra with a visit to the Aquis Horse Stud followed by lunch at Canungra Hotel.

Busy 2023 March

Ellie Wilkie was our very humorous guest speaker at the March meeting.  She showed some of her artwork and the short humorous poems that she wrote to accompany them.  Our Easter Raffle was very popular with lots of prizes and our good news is that we have been so financially successful, that we now have seven Learning for Life students.

The major prize was won by Bernice, is holidaying overseas.

2023 International Women's Day

Nine Members from our Club attended International Women’s Day at South Tweed Sports Club.

The speakers were inspiring on the topic of Embrace Equity. The speakers were Valerie Skinner, who started climbing mountains at the age of 55, Keri Agar, the founder of Cabarita Distillery, Stacie Fogarty, a proud Mununjali woman. Also speaking were Jasmin Dorrington and Hannah from the Smith Family.

Congratulations Lorelle

Another highlight of the meeting was the presentation by our President Shirley of a P Plate to Lorelle, as she has had to chair both the November meeting and the January meeting including the AGM.

2023 February

The guest speaker was Nic Irby, who spoke on the 51 years of the Tamworth Country Music Festival.  His audio visual presentation was of a high standard and very informative and entertaining.
