November 2023 with the Milton Follies
Milton Follies member, Ruth spoke about her passion in the performing arts and the 21 years she has spent in roles on and off the stage, including Director, Producer, Musical Director, Play writer, performer and treasurer. Her enthusiasm for the Milton Follies is definitely infectious.
Michelle spoke about her playwriting experience and performed a very professional rendition of Liza Minnelli's song Cabaret, and looked spectacular in her sparkly red jumpsuit. What an amazingly talented lady. Both ladies emphasised the family atmosphere, communal support and lasting friendships the Milton Follies and performing arts has provided for them.

Miriam shared her rag rug making (Proggy) story beginning with her childhood in Durham England. She started using many different recycled fabrics and dying materials for more bright and interesting colours. Word spread and her classes in Milton became very popular. Miriam's book has sold 2,000 copies worldwide.
Jeanie has been spinning, knitting and felting for many years and is a member of the Murramarang Spinners group with Miriam. Jeanie demonstrated on her small folding wheel how to spin fleece into various types and thicknesses of yarn and explained their uses. Her work was inspirational.

Our guest speaker, Hannah Saba, is the local Family Participation Coordinator for the Nowra Smith Family team. It was wonderful to hear about her position which keeps her in contact with all her families to make sure the support the students are receiving at school and in the after-school activities is meeting their family needs.

Visit from Uncle Vic in May 2023
Uncle Vic, from the Aboriginal Land Council spoke at our May meeting. He said It's about us all - we all work together in relationship and community. His grandfather taught him that education and cultural learning were most important.
He was very involved in bush regeneration and recovery after the devastating fires, and spoke about the 60,000 year Aboriginal paintings in the local rock shelters and about the importance of women in Aboriginal culture. His talk was very informative and encouraging, and Lyn responded with an equally appreciative vote of thanks.

Take 3 for the Sea in April 2023
Take 3 for the Sea in April 2023
Guest speaker, Monica, had always felt a connection with nature and culture, and in 2016 she established a not-for-profit organisation Take 3 for the Sea to achieve better outcomes for a regenerative community not just sustainability. Treading Lightly evolved from fire recovery, working with grass roots people, building wildlife sanctuaries, providing food and help where it is needed, and working in conjunction with other not-for-profit groups.
Monica has established Habitat for Wildlife an education program to encourage people to build habitat gardens. She works with students in Ulladulla High School about how we can make change for good in our community. These programs all help with mental health in a positive way.
Our Club also took the opportunity to thank Gayle from the Dunn Lewis Centre following her NSW Regional Woman of the Year award.
