Gympie VIEW Club was formed in 1995.
Currently, the Club sponsors eight Smith Family Learning for Life students and is actively involved in fundraising activities to raise donations for The Smith Family programs.
GYMPIE VIEW CLUB has over 50 members and covers a large area from Cooroy and Pomona in the south, from Kilkivan and Goomeri in the west, from Curra and Glenwood in the north and from Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach in the east to Gympie in the centre of the region.
We are always open to new members, so please get in touch today and come and see what it's all about.
Besides regular interesting speakers at our monthly meeting we have many social activities during the month. Our active program officers organise activities such as craft days, a cruise and coffee mornings, which are always very popular with members. These activities assist us in raising money to support our Smith Family Learning for Life students, who we have facilitated over many years, as well as enjoying ourselves.

To end the 2021 year we had our last social outing to Michele's place for a lovely morning tea. Our last lunch on 10 December had the White Christmas theme. Thirty-five members enjoyed a roast turkey lunch. The decorations the venue had done looked lovely and a great time was had by all, with the exchange of Secret Friend gifts and the continuous raffle. Thanks to all those members and local businesses who donated prizes to our raffle.

For Melbourne Cup this year we met at Sylvia's home and enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by the ladies and some bubbly. It was a fun time with everyone wearing their race day finery. We enjoyed raffle prizes and our hostess Sylvia presented us all with a piece of jewellery.
Also featured, our own version of a horse race which was a lot of fun and created some laughs as well as competitiveness amongst the racers leaving members laughing and having a great time. The sweep winners are pictured. Thank you, Sylvia for a wonderful time.
At this months lunch our guest speaker was Chris Collins, who is a childrens book author, we enjoyed his talk

Another busy month started with a lovely morning tea enjoying the beautiful gardens at Yo's home in North Deep Creek. Lovely time on the verandah overlooking the garden enjoying good food and company.
Our lunch meeting this month at Gunabul Homestead was a lovely lunch of salmon with rice and asparagus and beans followed by pavlova and berries, very much enjoyed by all, we also discussed our Christmas lunch menu as it is coming fast. No guest speaker this month Christine arranged a trivia quiz with an Australian theme, this was won by Susan who scored 17 out of 20, great job Susan.
Our final outing was to Cooloola Berries to join with our sister club from Hervey Bay, we enjoyed a lovely lunch and met new ladies having a lovely time. This time we were in the air-conditioned room which is a lovely spot and Kim Lewis gave us a chat about the farm and its crops as it was too hot for a farm tour.

What a great month we have had with lots of time spent with our lovely VIEW club members. Starting with a morning tea on 8 September at Barbara's house where members enjoyed some great food and company.
Next was a lunch meeting on 17 September where guest speaker Karl from FOTS spoke about the value of exercise and strength training which was interesting and educational.
The final outing for the month was at Christine's home where we made Christmas Cards using paint chips, lots of fun and food.
Out and About In August 2021
Members enjoyed a couple of outings this month; the first being a lunch at the Gympie Sports Club where a lovely lunch was had by all and very much enjoyed.
Next, was our lunch meeting where we discussed and voted on the 2021 resolutions.
The final outing for August was to Cooloola Berries where we enjoyed some beautiful pancakes and beverages at an outside table, checked out the shop and took home our purchases. Some great fun was had by all at our outings.
The Strawberry Pancake Ladies
The theme for this month was Bring a Friend and we had six guests invited by members. There was no guest speaker this month as we wanted to discuss the very generous donation from a local manufacturer, Nestle. Options for spending the money were explained to all members, and a vote was taken on the options. The majority of members chose to use the money to add 4 new Learning for Life students to our existing four. The donation will fund those students for two years.
Lunch was our last with chef George from Zesty Edibles, who is leaving Gunabul for other pursuits; we farewelled George at the end of the meeting.
At lunch the new program officers advised of an activity; that would be held at Mary's house.
This was a delicious morning tea enjoyed by all, and there was a book stall with lots of discussion throughout the morning about books; the raffle was won by Esme. This was a wonderful day; thank you Mary for welcoming us into your home.
The year started with a lunch social outing to the Rattler Cafe, which is where our local steam train affectionately known as "The Rattler" resides and in this historic setting we all had a chance to catch up on holiday activities and it was a great start to the new year for all members.
At our January lunch meeting our elections were held and we have a full committee for 2021.
2020 Comes to a Close
After a difficult year for a lot of people across our country as well as the rest of the world, we are grateful for our VIEW friends and were very happy to be able to resume our lunch meetings and limited social outings.
Our first meeting back in November was delightful with a special visitor from Smartpups called Daisy who brought her owner Robi and a friend with her. Robi spoke about the work of Smartpups in providing special assistance dogs for disabled people especially their work with children affected by diabetes and epilepsy. Very informative talk enjoyed by all. When the talk was over, Daisy was signalled that work was over and it was play time where she circulated throughout the room to get pats and spread her loving nature to all members. Daisy was delightful and delighted everyone present. A wonderful lunch and a great start to resuming our VIEW meetings.
We also had our badge presentations for 10 and 20 year members. Our 20 year members were Joann and Charmaine, our 10 year members where Dorothea, Margaret and Nannette which were presented by our President Barbara.
For December we ended the year with our Christmas party which is always well supported by members and we are able to find out who our secret friend is. Lots of fun had by all and a great way to end the year and we are all looking forward to 2021.

Craft Day at Charmaine's
What a beautiful day to do some Christmas craft and enjoy some wonderful company on the verandah at Charmaine’s home on Friday the 13th where seventeen ladies had a fun and crafty day.
Some ladies made some place-mats by making an A3 collage and then laminating them, while others did some decoupage on glass jars and other items with napkins. As you can see by the photos some beautiful gifts were made and the stories told are of a wonderful fun day spent with VIEW friends.
There were also some ladies who didn’t join the craft part of the day but enjoyed the fun and we encourage all members to our craft days as they are really just an excuse to get together to enjoy each other’s company with yummy food and to learn different crafts for those interested.
