A valued part of The Smith Family

Geelong Day VIEW Club

Geelong Day VIEW Club is a leading women’s volunteer organisation and support network that empowers women to have their voices heard on issues of importance in Australian society.

We support seven ‘Learning for Life’ students with scholarships in the belief the best way to enable children to become independent and able to care for themselves can only be achieved through full access to and utilisation of educational resources.

Our club not only provides the opportunity to meet regularly with likeminded women from all walks of life, but we listen to interesting guest speakers while dining and enjoying the friendship of our large group. New members are welcome to come along and participate at whatever level is comfortable for you.

Social events include a fashion parade, plant stall, high tea bridal display, sausage sizzles and a birthday celebration dinner. We need people of all backgrounds, all skill sets and all perspectives, so yours are wanted. Come along to a meeting and enjoy yourself.

President Jan's Message

My name is Jan and I have been a VIEW club member since March 2018. What drew me to VIEW was the children. I have been brought up to promote the welfare of others and to share, with the aim to reduce the gap between the haves and have nots.

I first learnt of VIEW at another organisation meeting, when the speaker presented about VIEW, I was instantly attracted. My reaction was what a great way to bridge the gap. I am passionate about education, so the fit was perfect!

Upon joining Geelong Day VIEW Club, I was impressed by the friendship provided to me, the welcoming environment and can-do attitude of the committee and club members, even during challenging times such as a pandemic!

I have stepped into the role of President in 2021 and am delighted with what we can achieve through collaboration. The Committee collectively thinks outside the square and our membership step up to assist in activities to ensure we support our sponsored children.

If you’d like to check us out at a monthly meeting, please reach out – myself or any other committee member would love to share with you, why we love VIEW and how you can contribute to bridging the gap.

In VIEW friendship,

President Jan Perry

2021 August

Our Christmas in July fundraiser became Christmas in August and then Christmas in a Box!

We have an active committee who thought outside the box to ensure this fundraiser could go ahead in a CoVid safe manner. Several members stepped up to assist with delivery of this fabulous meal in a box

2021 Resolutions

In addition to advocating on behalf of disadvantaged children and young people, every two years VIEW members vote on one or more issues of importance that will be the focus of advocacy and lobbying work for the coming years.

These are called Resolutions. The VIEW National Resolution process is the voice of the organisation. Through this, members are able to collectively identify and articulate issues that are considered important for influencing social change in Australia. Many VIEW resolutions have been successful in fostering legislative changes for the betterment of Australian society.

Three members spoke about each of the three resolutions members voted on and the process was coordinated by our Delegate

Membership Grows in August 2021

Our club membership continues to grow. At the August General Meeting we were able to present two new members with their club badges.

2021 June

While CoVid containment protocols affect members being able to attend in large groups in person, here is our Committee working out what we CAN do to continue to raise funds for our Learning for Life students.

2021 May Birthday

Our Club turned thirteen this year and we celebrated with a Black Cats And Sparkle theme. From the table setting, to the  Dress to Sparkle, dress code, the room and entire event was filled with friendship and laughter.

Thank you to Possums On The Porch, a Geelong duo, who not only entertained, they got us laughing as well.

Celebrating Thirteen Years

Geelong Day VIEW club donated three boxes of stationery goods including pencils, rubbers, pencil cases, backpacks, hats, and 30 soccer balls.

All gathered by the ladies for deserving children in Geelong. They also delivered over 130 Library bags which they took the time to sew. They will be put to good use to keep the books tidy and in good order.
