20th Birthday Celebrated
Western Australia First Wave VIEW Club opened in July 2001 and as the name suggests was the first VIEW Club in W.A. The club opened in the same year The Smith Family started in W.A to extend their Learning for Life Program.
A 20th birthday celebration was held at the Woodvale Tavern on 12th July with 100 ladies in attendance. Inaugural members, past members, ladies representing other VIEW clubs in WA and our own members and friends had a fabulous day reminiscing and celebrating. It was a pleasure to have GM TSF Anjie Brook attend this event and hear her speak about her newly appointed position with TSF. Amazing singer Chris Ehlers, who kept us entertained throughout the day. The Tavern had the venue decorated in VIEW colours which added to the atmosphere.
Guest Speaker LFS Christina Miller gave an inspiring touching story about her educational journey through TSF`s learning for life program. Christina`s journey started in the early years of her life and is now attending Murdoch University studying a law degree.
President Dawn acknowledged active inaugural members Barb Colson, Monica O'Donoghue, Marlene Gordon and Joan Newnham for their generosity and dedication given over the past 20 years. These ladies along with Lorraine Johnson and Val Baird were presented with their 20 year service badge
Over this time the club has raised thousands of dollars which has been donated towards The Smith Family`s Learning for Life programs and appeals. The amount of time given over the 20 years has been huge. Members participate in volunteering and fundraising activities to help disadvantaged children reach their potential through education. Presently the club is sponsoring 10 students.

VIEW’s 60th Anniversary commemorative Tea Towel with its retro design in our purple & teal colours, was inspired by one the first VIEW brochures developed in the 60’s. The Tea Towel also represented a collection of women from various eras reminiscent of the graphics of dress making patterns.
